Jones' life was an unfolding of the Lord's Sovereign preparation and use of a man who walked by faith, performed his duty, and earnestly proclaimed the infallible truths of God's Word. Chaplain Jones was a primary leader in organizing the chaplains into a united effort for proclaiming the gospel and meeting the spiritual needs of the men in gray. Gen. "Stonewall" Jackson, and Gen. Robert E. Lee gave their full support to this spiritual mission. J. William Jones was the author of "Christ in the Camp."
