It is said to have been hand sewn by Mary Custis Lee, Mr. Lee’s wife, and is modeled after 1st National Confederate flag. The star pattern is said to represent the Ark of the Covenant which fits R.E. Lee’s Christian faith that was such a large part of his life. The original Robert E. Lee headquarters flag is currently located in Richmond, Virginia at what used to be the Museum of the Confederacy.
