Steve French's analysis of Imboden's Brigade is well documented with actual diary accounts from the men, newspaper articles, and military reports. The 15 chapters extensively details the units' movements, while providing accurate particulars of the action. In 2008 this work was awarded with the Bachelder-Coddington Award which is given annually to authors who shed the best, latest information on the Battle of Gettysburg.
About the author: Steve French is a graduate of Hedgesville High School and Shepher College and teaches West Virginia History at Martinburg South Middle School. He is the author of The Jones-Imboden Raid against the B&O Railroad at Rowlesburg, Virginia, and is the editor of Four years Along the Tilhance: The Diary of Elisha Manor. he also has written over sixty Civil War articles for numerous publications including The Washington Times, Gettysburg Magazine, North & South Magazine, Maryland Cracker Barrell Magazine, The Morgan Messenger and The Southern Cavalry Review. He was the winner of the 2008 Bachelder-Coddington Literary Award and the winner of The Gettysburg Civil War Round Table 2009 Book Award.
