Our latest addition to the Monument Collectors Coin series serves as a tangible historical record of the Robert E. Lee monument in Charlottesville, Virginia. The obverse features a detailed rendering of the monument flanked by an unreconstructed Virginia seal and to the right are the dates of its erection and removal. The reverse side presents a somber reflection on the monument’s end, centered by a clear-enameled "burning death mask" which was gloatingly paraded in the mainstream media by the cultural Marxists. "Destroyed by radicals" and "We will not forget" are featured at the top and bottom of the image--fitting sentiments to how true Americans feel about the destruction of this piece of history. The coin is finished with a poignant quote from historian Douglas Southall Freeman: "In Lee the South sees character... and character is invincible."
