In an effort to help preserve the history, ConfederateShop.com has partnered with the folks at PreserveTalbotHistory.org to produce a special collector's coin dedicated to the Talbot Boys Monument which stood in Easton, Maryland since 1916. In 2022, the monument was forcefully removed by authorities. Thankfully, in 2022 it was relocated to Virginia's Port Republic Battlefield.
Preserve Talbot History:
Preserve Talbot History was formed to keep the Talbot Boys monument in its original location on the Courthouse lawn in Easton, Maryland. When black on yellow signs saying “Move the Monument” appeared in the wealthier, progressive parts of town, we distributed white on blue signs saying “Preserve Talbot History” all over the town and Talbot County. That was our theme as members started publicizing the story of why Talbot County men joined the Army of Northern Virginia and the subsequent history of the monument commemorating their service. Our members wrote OpEd pieces and articles in local newspapers explaining the true history and challenging claims that the Talbot Boys were traitors and supporters of slavery.
