“Knowing that intercessory prayer is our mightiest weapon and the supreme call for all Christians today, I pleadingly urge our people everywhere to pray. Believing that prayer is the greatest contribution that our people can make in this critical hour, I humbly urge that we take time to pray– to really pray. Knowing that intercessory prayer is our mightiest weapon and the supreme call for all.” ~ General Robert E. Lee, commander of the Army of Northern Virginia, C.S.A.

In the midst of the titanic struggle of the American War Between the States, the spiritual war for the souls of men was waged with equal vigor. If war reveals the greatest evils that man’s heart can devise, it also can provide a rich harvest-field for the saving Grace of God in men’s hearts.

150 years after the Civil War remains the results of a movement that occurred during the War. Many soldiers came home after war and wanted to establish a church in their community. Presbyterian, Baptists, and Methodist churches sent in Chaplains during the Civil War. Especially in the Army of Northern Virginia there was a great movement of God. Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson are known for their Christian beliefs and both officers encouraged prayer meetings, preaching and revivals throughout their ranks. W.W. Bennett in his book stated that probably over 150,000 men were converted during those revivals.

Spiritual Revival in the Confederate Army is an excellent documentary and we highly recommend it!

This documentary was all recorded on a Sony NEX-FS100. Interviews and public reenactments were filmed over the period of several years in various locations across the United States. It was edited on Adobe Creative Cloud software.
