The First National Flag of the Confederacy, also known as the “Stars and Bars,” was used from 1861 until 1863. At first it had 7 stars for the first seceded states; South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas. Then 4 others joined in; Virginia, Arkansas, North Carolina, and Tennessee, making it 11 stars. Finally, there was Missouri and Kentucky, although occupied by yankee forces, they were still considered Confederate States. In the end it had 13 stars in total.
