At first it had 7 stars for the first seceded states; South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas. Then 4 others joined in; Virginia, Arkansas, North Carolina, and Tennessee, making it 11 stars. Finally, there was Missouri and Kentucky, although occupied by yankee forces, they were still considered Confederate States. In the end it had 13 stars in total.
