Description

Front: Turner Ashby, October 23, 1828, June 6, 1862, Brigadier General, Confederate States of America, Commanding Jackson’s Cavalry, Army of the Shenandoah

Back: “Knight of the Valley”, Turner Ashby’s ability, audacity and fearlessness made him indispensable to his commander, Gen. Jackson. Always in the thick of the fight, Ashby fell mortally wounded at Harrisonburg, Virginia delaying the enemy’s advance to Port Republic. Jackson stated his character was “strikingly marked by personal heroism and prompt resource” and deeply regretted his death and personal loss.
